Time to add the first cue! The line checks cue 0 is fixed: it unassigns all DCAs and sets channels to their default position, default FX, and default profile. In cue 1 you can assign channels to DCAs...
- just type the name of the channel, or
- type the name of an ensemble (by default: all, male, female), or
- type the number of the channel, or multiple channels separated by commas
- advanced: Shift + Enter any of the above to merge them into the DCA
- only channels that have not been assigned to other DCAs will be included
- the new assignment will be combined with any existing assignment on the selected DCA
- note that ensembles are always merged in to prevent unwanted de-assignments on other DCAs
- double click or ⌘/Ctrl + E to open the assign dialog for more options
- you can just type the DCA label as a placeholder and assign channels later
- to clear a DCA, simply press the Delete key (or fn + delete on a MacBook)
- any channels not assigned to a DCA will be automatically muted
Now you can add some more cues by inserting a new blank cue or cloning the existing cue. Tip: use ⌘/Ctrl + D to fill down DCA assignments like a spreadsheet.
Once you have some cues you can connect to a console to run them. Connect your computer and console to the same network and set IP addresses accordingly (as if using the console's standard editor software).
It is strongly recommended to use a wired Ethernet connection between the computer and console, a Wi-Fi connection is not suitable. Wi-Fi connections impose additional network latency which delays cue execution in TheatreMix, not to mention the usual risks of interference and dropouts which could disrupt a show.
After connecting up the console, open console setup in TheatreMix and it should be discovered automatically. If the console requires a licence, close console setup and open licence manager to start a trial, then return to console setup.
Select the console and click OK.
Channels will now be configured with scribble strip labels and the bottom-right assign button will advance through cues. Congratulations, you've set up a show!
